GARDENING TIPS

Garden it yourself !

Prepare your garden for the Summer!

Removes weeds!

Weeds are inevitable, even in the most well-kept gardens. As the weather gets warmer, weeds come out, but there are ways to prevent them from growing in your garden. You can mow your soil, especially if you are going to grow vegetables or if it is on the lawn we remove them one by one. It is more difficult work than spraying but this way we avoid the extra chemicals.

Fertilizer

There are many types of fertilizers on the market, so be sure to ask a gardener which fertilizer will work best in your garden. The healthiest gardens use some kind of fertilizer because most of the soil does not provide enough nutrients to plants and flowers.

Plant vegetables

The warmer months are the best time to plant these vegetables:

Beans

Celery

Corn

Peppers

Pumpkin

Prepare the soil

The best soil allows the roots to grow quickly and spread. Cultivation helps to break down soil so that nutrients and water can be spread throughout the soil. Incorporating a compost mattress into your soil is one of the best things you can do for your garden. The mattress covers the ground, protecting the soil from the sun. This keeps it cooler, so your plant roots grow better.

Anything made from organic material - chopped wood, pine straw, a mixture of grass clippings and chopped leaves, etc. - will help your soil in the long run as it decomposes and adds to the structure of your soil. Also this mixture is ideal for the places we intend for a vegetable garden.

Add new color to your yard.

As soon as summer arrives many annual spring plants such as pansy or viola disappear. Make your yard look more beautiful by removing old plants and replacing them with summer heat-loving varieties such as elderberry and zinnia. At high temperatures these plants grow quickly and will soon offer a beautiful color to your garden.

Also spring bulbs such as tulips, hyacinths and narcissus will dry out. If you start to notice that the leaves turn yellow, remove them immediately to prevent any infection on other flowers. If the leaf is still green, do not remove it from the plant or flower.

And don't forget when you work to the garden, the most beautiful company is children!!

Let them work with you, they' ll be thrilled with you, and also, yourself with them.

Good luck.
